A New Vision for Therapeutic Filtration
Redox Therapeutics is a Philadelphia-based biomedical startup, founded with a long term vision to advance biological fluid purification through a new generation of selective, actively controlled filtration technologies, designed to expand the range of molecular targets that can be addressed and open new possibilities for therapeutic filtration.
The company was founded by Dr. Leonard Neatu, an entrepreneur, inventor, and researcher in the field of redox biology and related pathologies. His work at the intersection of redox biology, diagnostics, and medical technologies led to a broader insight: selectively modulating the circulating biochemical environment may provide a direct means of influencing homeostatic mechanisms. Central to this vision is redox homeostasis - a foundational layer of human physiology closely interconnected with metabolism, inflammation, cellular signaling, and tissue function.
A review of existing blood purification technologies revealed important limitations in realizing this potential: a relatively narrow range of targetable metabolites and environmental toxins, insufficient molecular selectivity, and limited active control over the filtration process.
Redox Therapeutics was created to address these gaps and expand what therapeutic filtration can achieve.
From One Initial Target to a Scalable Filtration Platform
Our long-term goal is to develop a modular therapeutic system built around a central bioreactor and a family of targeted filtration cartridges, each using selective nanotechnology-based capture to address a specific circulating biological or environmental target.
Rather than developing a different system for every target, we envision one platform capable of supporting multiple precision filtration therapies.
We are starting with endotoxin, a potent driver of systemic inflammation and sepsis. But endotoxin is the beginning, not the boundary.
Over time, the platform is intended to expand toward additional biologically relevant targets associated with acute and chronic inflammation and redox and metabolic imbalances. The broader objective remains the same: to selectively reshape the circulating biochemical environment and support the restoration of homeostatic mechanisms.
One platform. Multiple targets. A new approach to blood purification.
Beyond Blood: The Cerebrospinal Fluid Frontier
Redox Therapeutics has developed the conceptual framework for a miniaturized cerebrospinal fluid apheresis platform, extending the principles of selective molecular capture and controlled filtration beyond plasma to the biochemical environment surrounding the brain and spinal cord.
The concept is to investigate whether targeted filtration could reduce selected oxidative and inflammatory metabolites, heavy metals, and environmental toxins that accumulate in the cerebrospinal fluid and contribute to disruption of normal neurological function.
While this represents a longer-term direction, we believe selective cerebrospinal fluid purification could ultimately open an important new frontier for therapeutic approaches to acute and chronic neurological conditions.
From the bloodstream to the central nervous system, our vision is precision filtration designed to restore the conditions that support cellular and systemic homeostasis.
